I
hope you have noticed that I've ceased to work on C1.
The project has been given to Gamesare to finish (hopefully).
Nevertheless, since I couldn't open the source file
anymore (because I renamed an extension and I don't
know which one is which) I decided to upload a gameplay
video I had from a rather early C1 alpha. There are
several graphical glitches, but alas, I can't do anything
to remove them. Sorry ><. At least now you'll
see what I worked on. Also, in the video I play around
with some editing and bug-testing keys--some things
were not supposed to take place in the game.
Meanwhile,
I'm working on another game called Heart
Forth, Alicia.
Its scope is smaller and I've already finished the
engine, so it won't nearly take as long as this to
complete.

Music
Hey
=)
I
didn't realize this December this game will have been
in development for 2 years. I've been very busy with
school, really, so you will most likely not see this
game done by summer. I've been doing music for it (so
now I'm virtually doing every aspect of the game) and
it is coming along nicely. I thought I'd show you part
of the main theme:
The
game will also have anime cutscenes (as close to anime
as they can get, anyway). I'll post something later
=) Thanks for visiting ^_^.

Even
more new things =p
I
just added a forum to this website. Please feel free
to post anything (you don't need to register to post).
There's
also a forum for the beta testers (check in there from
time to time to download new betas). Bear in mind that
you have to register, PM me and have me set your permission
level to private.
*I
am looking for Beta testers. Please post in the forums
if you're interested.
Regarding
the actual game, I've finished all the screens except
for the skills screen. I'm unsure as to how you will
be using these (most likely through hotkeys; eg keys
1-9) so please feel free to suggest ideas. I don't
think it's worth it for me to post a screenshot of
the status, equip, inventory, options, etc screens;
so no screenshots for now.
By
the way, I'm still working on the game, hoping to be
able to release it by next summer.

Update
I've
been working more on C1 than what I actually had planned,
which is good. I'm trying to balance out my life -which
isn't really hard when you're in the US and under-age.
I've
finished and completely implemented the night/day system,
as well as the conversation engine. It's pretty neat,
and allows up to 17 different character emotions (displayed
in avatars), progressive dialogue, etc. I've still to
actually finish the enemy AI, the Defense/Attack engine,
the Skill engine, the Meleé hit engine, the Save engine,
etc. It is kind of getting overwhelming, but I'm going
step-by-step instead of working on the big picture, all
at the same time.
Right
now, I'm doing the Pause screen, which allows you to
access the Status, Item, Skills, Options, Equips and
Load screens. This game, I'm actually liking.
I
don't have any screenshots to show you atm, but I will
once I feel it's possible. Thanks
^^

Re-designed!
Another
slight modification: To the left navigation panel,
I added the "Downloads" and "Progress" sections. The
former doesn't have anything yet, but I will plan to
add some music I've been composing for the game. As
for the latter, there's only game-progress information
that you might be interested in.
I
also announce in there that the tentative release
date is summer 2006. This, I'll
try to stay as faithful to, but there might (and
will, probably) be some changes.
Ps.
Happy, lance? ^^

Small
Update
I
slightly modified the INFO, SCREENSHOTS and LINKS
sections. Feel free to take a look.

Second
screenshot
I
haven't been able to work on C1 as much as I have
wanted in the past months. I've been on vacation,
actually, which means I don't have my computer with
me. I'm using a very weak laptop, and trust me, it's
not fun making games on it. However, I've been adding
little things to the engine. One of those is the
night system. Here are some comparitative screenshots
that show 4 stages of 42 different shades (morning,
daytime, afternoon, nighttime).
Once school starts again (in a few weeks), I'll continue to work
on it.

Drawing
I was a little bored, so I came up with this drawing. I hope you like it =).

First screenshot
Seeing that some people were asking me to show a screenshot (an early one), here it is:
I will release more in the future, don't worry =).

1000
hits!
Well,
to those three people that still come to this website,
this is the 1000th hit! It is indeed not much, lol,
but it's worth of updating I guess.
On
the other side of things, Continent One is still
being made (and I promise it will be finished).
I
was about to release a screenshot along with this
newspost, but then I realized I still have no HUD
or display stuff for you to see- it'd look unprofessional,
lol.
But
I will post a screenshot on the next update. Thanks
for still visiting =)

Alpha
testers needed!
For alpha
testing information, scroll down.
Admitting
that I hadn't worked on the project for some time,
I am now back on track. I made a small update on
the natomic website, and failed to make it here (not
that many people come... but I really appreciate
your visit ^^).
The
story was just restarted. The original was too dull,
cliché and untangible. The new one, hopefully,
will be more developed and less elemental.
The
graphic process has been paused for some time now,
mainly because my main focus is the engine. After
I'm done with the "3d" engine -notice the
quotes-, I'll continue to draw until I have something
worth of screen-taking. That means, no screenshots
until a month or less from now. But considering the
website hadn't been updated for 2 months, that doesn't
seem like a long wait, is it? X)
In
any case, coding wise -if you can call it that-,
it's getting a bit tedious. I'm not as good as Blake
was (who, if I failed to mention, is not working
on this project anymore -I'm alone), so I find myself
struggling sometimes. But it's coming along... which
brings me to the final point:
I
need alpha testers. Not pre-players, but
people that are willing to spend time trying to
find bugs (or, in other words, trying to make me
feel bad every 3 seconds). There are no true requirements
but the one mentioned above. The other thing I'm
asking for is to report the bugs in a certain format.
Not "I found a bug when you do this," (because
what's "this," in the first place?) but
rather "I found a bug when you do collide
with this object, and it could be because of blah,
blah" etc. It really helps me when you give
suggestions on how to correct a bug. The other
thing is, please, no leaks. And to prevent that,
I'll reduce the beta testing list to trust-worthy
people.
In
any case, to apply (if you're willing to waste your
time with me ^^) post a thread on the natomic forums
or send me an email to vaughliblen at hotmail
dot com.
Thanks
=)

New
year
Happy
new year (although it does seem to be a little late)
to everyone! Last year was very tedious, so I hope
this one turns out better (I also love it when people
feel very sad about it still being 2004, and 1 minute
later, the 1st of jan of 2005, their feelings wash
away).
As
far as game progress goes, the engine hasn't really
been developed alot (Blake got lost in the highway
or something), and I have't worked on it alot either.
But, judging from my past game (don't bash me on
this; it's the only experience I have :p), the engine
gets completed bit by bit. Graphically, I have most
of the first area graphics (backgrounds, etc) done.
I've still to sprite the rest of the cast, meaning
that alot of work is still to be completed. On the
other hand, I've been drawing the characters in anime
style to try to come out with an interesting manga "preview" as
well as a more attractive plot-line reference for
myself.
As
far as beta testing goes, there's not enough to actually
test, so please don't ask ^^;

Small
update
Although
not worth of updating in the Natomic Website, I can
take the liberty of showing a few sketches I uploaded
very recently. Some were wondering why the website
was released before any screenshots were available,
and I hope their question is now answered.
Returning
to the sketches, they're merely a first draft (not
to mention that I've barely started exploring the
style), so please excuse my clumsiness. I will
keep on adding updates every often, I promise =).
You
can find the sketches under the "Screenshots" section, here.
I
also added a Shout Box at the left side of the
screen. I hope it serves its purpose X).

The
site is up!
Welcome
to the Continent One Online Website. This website
contains relevant information about the game, and
will, at a certain point, contain screenshots,
downloads, wallpapers and any other sort of media.
In
the meantime, please be patient while the game
is completed. Once the main engine is done, along
with the necessary graphics, we will be looking
for people to help us with beta testing, so please
come some time later to see if there's any new
information regarding that aspect. We will also
be looking for talented musicians that are willing
to help us through the process. A post regarding
that issue will be created once music is deemed
necessary.
There
might be a Forums section if enough people become
interested, as well as a Downloads one (when
there's actually something to download).
Please
contact us through e-mail or in mIRC if you happen
to find typos, or any other sort of mistake.
Also,
please understand that not much information can
be given out (spoiler and hyping concerns) until
the game draws near to completition. We will,
however, release a trailer and a few screenshots
at a certain point.
